Below is Fidel Cuaron (on the left) as a young
boy with his older brother Pete (Pedro) Cuaron. Their father was named
Jose Eugenio Cuaron and their mother was Maria de Pilar Lino.
Jose Eugenio Cuaron was born in Ysleta del Sur (near El Paso, Texas) at the Tigua's Ysleta del Sur
(Pueblo Indian) Mission.
Their grandmother was Josefa Quaron. Their great-grandparents
were named Jose Pedro Cuaron and Maria Felipa Diaz. They also lived in Ysleta. Jose Pedro Cuaron was a Tigua Tribal Leader (*Cacique) of Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Indians in 1841 (Source: The Tiguas: Pueblo Indians of Texas by Bill Wright, 1993, p. 146).
*The Spanish used the word Cacique as a title for the leader of the tribe. To the right is Fidel Cuaron, born 23 Dec 1898. He was a beloved grandfather loved by his large family. He passed away in Los Angeles in Jan 1982. |
